The future of brickly...!
To our friends, followers, artists, and everyone who has helped us make it this far, we here at the brickly Team have an important (and unfortunate) news to announce.
The original brickly Team will soon disband, and our NYC HQ will shut down by the end of 2017.
Well, it isn't a "happy" ending for our team, and there are no words that can soften the blow. However, for the brickly Community, there is a rather good news.
The amazing team at BrickLink has noticed us, and although the original members of the brickly Team will be long gone, brickly will live on thanks to the capable hands of the BrickLink Team. In fact, we are quite excited to see how the BrickLink Team will further transform this platform into something more valuable to the community.
(As we are sure you all know, BrickLink is a platform for LEGO fans to find all sorts of bricks... an amazing resource for MOC-makers of all levels. It is currently working on some incredible apps and broader platform, which will help community members share their creations in greater detail than ever before.)
With this change, once again, the original brickly Team will no longer be a part of the journey. It was an incredibly tough decision for us to make, as we've built so many amazing friendships with our members and wanted so desperately to see our promises through. Unfortunately, due to both external and internal circumstances, it's simply not feasible for us to continue this adventure.
From the very beginning of our journey last year, we set out with the ambition of creating a space where artists, enthusiasts, and even new brick enthusiasts could come together and inspire each other. As we got deeper into the community and met more of you, it really felt like we were making amazing steps towards achieving our dream. The support you've given us these past few months was one of the most amazing things we've ever seen, and we hope that you all continue to show the same support to brickly's new caretakers!
To brickly Artists who shared their works with us and helped to promote us, we cannot thank you enough. It was an honor working with each and every one of you, and we hope that we will have more opportunities to help you grow in the future. To the convention-goers, fans, and brickly members who stumbled upon us and showed us support, we thank you as well. To those who have been patiently waiting for our Android App and Web App, this may set back a bit of progress, but they should still be on the way!
It's been an incredible journey for us, and we know that we have all absolutely been converted into life-long brick fans.
Now, some personal words from our Content Team members:
Aaron, Content and Community Lead
Before I started here at brickly, I had no idea that this community even existed, let alone how amazing it is. Being able to chat with all of you and seeing the passion that this art form brings to you were some of the most inspiring things I've experienced in my life. I'm so incredibly proud to be able to say that I helped contribute to the community, even if only for a little bit. I'll still be following your work as we move forward and truly do hope that our paths cross again some day. Who knows, maybe I'll even have a MOC on display at the next big LEGO convention :)!
Jordan, Founder and CEO
As some of you may already know, it has already been three months since our official, full launch back in late August. We've worked night and day since then (and, of course, months leading up to the launch as well), with the mission to transform the way people perceive interlocking bricks, with the vision to build a platform that'd help expand the community beyond the existing fan base of brick enthusiasts.
Although my journey ends here with a huge disappointment that I couldn't produce a happier outcome for everyone involved (including our Artists, our community members, my colleagues, my investor–mentor to name just a few), I'm quite proud of what we've—yes, including each and every one of you—collectively accomplished together.
Thank you so much for your support along this journey. I still believe that bricks are more than just a toy but also a powerful medium of artistic, creative expression. I will be cheering on.
If there's anything that our team can do to help answer questions or help with the transition, we will still be reachable at email@example.com for a short while.
